I’ve been home a week. It’s a beautiful California day. Perfect 82 degrees in my yard! A week has gone fast. I was pretty tired off and on throughout the week. My sleep pattern is almost back to pre-Camino. My bed has never felt so luxurious. Several times I woke up thinking for less than a second I was at the Parador, only to realize I was home with my puppies, in my own bed! So, now the hard part continues, life after the Camino. It’s easy to fall right back to how life was before I left, but somehow I feel it should be different? What will that difference be? Don’t know? I suppose I should get a job! That would be different! Will work on that a little more this week. Time to get my head back in the game and figure out how to sell myself once again. I’ve been out for eight months now, haven’t missed it at all! Questions all around me about who, what will I be when I grow up? Still have no idea of what to be, only what NOT to be! I guess that’s a start. One day at a time, poco un poco ( little by little) the answers will come. So, off I go….

Thoughts on food

When I was planning my trip to Spain I was pretty excited by the thought of the food. I’ve now been in Spain for over six weeks and I’m not so excited anymore. I’ve had some wonderful things that I would not eat before, like Lentil soup, Garlic Soup, Chorizo,Jamon (ham, nothing like American ham), and green olives! I’ve been exposed to something called the Pilgrims Menu as part of my diet. It usually has a first choice, second choice, dessert and a drink. The choices are limited and pretty much the same across Spain. The one thing you can count on is “Patata’s” will be part of what ever you choose. French Fried, boiled or chips, there a staple! Never thought I’d miss vegetables, but miracles happen and I have! Vegetables are a wonder in Spain? I see them growing all over the place, but rarely put on any plate that I saw? Here’s where knowing more Spanish would probably have helped! I’ve experimented with food in Spain, eaten more fish than ever, even Octopus! The same dish is never the same anytime. Every place a little different. Sometimes I could even tell if it was made with love or not! Loves makes EVERYTHING taste better!

What will I miss? The Chorizo, Jamon bocadillo and KAS Limón. Oh yeah, and lentieja soup!
